Virginia "Ginny" Lea (Whetsell) Knieriem

Virginia “Ginny” Whetsell-Knieriem, 68, Meyersdale passed away surrounded by family on Sunday March 15, 2026. Born in Somerset on December 22, 1957 to Harry Whetsell, Sr. and Sandra Grieg-Wilhelm. Preceded in death by her father. Granddaughter, Ruby Jo Weigle. Half-brother, Lynn Whetsell. Survived by her mother, Sandra (Dale) Wilhelm. Husband of 42 years, Wayne Knieriem. Daughters, Brianna (Steven Yoder) Knieriem and Brooke (Matt Suder) Kindler. Step-son, Bradley (Taylor Guthridge) Knieriem. Grandsons, Kyle (Hope), Job, Carter, and Reed. Brother, Harry “Tim” (Patti) Whetsell, Jr. Sister, Sandy (Wayne) Miller. Many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Ginny was a member of the Meyersdale Church of the Brethren, Elks Lodge Post 1951, and Meyersdale American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Ginny's happy place was the beach. The family would like to thank Family Hospice and Ginny's nieces Taryn and Kara for all their help over the last few days. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the M. Ray Leckemby Funeral Home. Elks Lodge Post 1951 will have their Service at 6:00 PM. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM at the Meyersdale Church of the Brethren with Pastor Eric Shaulis officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the services. Interment Mt.
