U.S. Army Master Sergeant Zachary Wade Beal, 38, formerly of Meyersdale, PA passed away Friday, July 29, 2022 in Fort Campbell, KY. Zachary was the son of the late Wade C. Beal. Survived by his mother, Mary A. Beal. Wife, Nance. Sons, Lorenzo (from 1st marriage) and Zachary. Daughter, Penelope. Brother, Jared (Nicole) Beal. Sister, Alaina (Kody) Donaldson. Nephew, Emmett. Nieces: Misa, Kaia, Avayah, Katana, Kenzie, and Korina. Many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Preceded in death by special granny, Helen L. Beal. Uncle, Michael L. Menser. Grandma, Gladys Schardt, who he exchanged letters with throughout his career. Upon graduating from Meyersdale Area High School in 2002, Zachary enlisted in the United States Army. Over his 20 years of service, Zach earned promotions and was awarded for his honor, courage, and accomplishments as a soldier. He was deployed twice in Iraq, and once in Afghanistan. Zach was awarded (2) Bronze Star Medals, (1) Meritorious Service Medal, (4) Army Commendation Medals, and (2) Achievement Medals. From 2010 till 2012, Zach was a Drill Sergeant. His current duty was MP (Military Police) as well as he held the occupation of a Human Resources Specialist. Zachary was the life of the party. There was never a dull moment when Zach was around with his funny, entertaining sense of humor. He had a heart of gold and always helped anyone with anything. Zach's charming smile warmed hearts around him. He was respected and well liked by the soldiers he served with. His loss will be felt and mourned by many. Services to honor Zachary's life will be held at a later date for his family.
