Rodger Allan Hutzell, Sr., 77, Meyersdale. Died May 5, 2024 at his home. Born in Meyersdale March 22, 1947 to Floyd and Florence (Leasure) Hutzell. Preceded in death by his parents. Sisters, Hilda Saylor and Helen Gallagher. Survived by his wife Rose Hutzell. Three Children. Four Grandchildren. Two Great Grandchildren. Brother, Floyd “Sonny” Hutzell. After graduation from High School Rodger worked at Shriver Lab at the University of Maryland then joined the United States Marine Corp serving in the Vietnam War and was at Camp Lejeune. Rodger then worked for Consolidated Coal, then he went to the Police Academy. Rodger was the Police Chief in Berlin for approximately 25-years, after retiring from being the Berlin Police Chief, he went to work as a part-time Police Officer for Elk Lick Township finishing his career there. Rodger was president of the Fraternal Order of Police Canton Memorial Lodge 98 for approximately 25-years. Family and friends will be received on Thursday, May 9, 2024 from 12-2:00 PM at the Mt. Carmel Lutheran Church – White Oak. The Funeral Service will follow the viewing at 2:00 PM with Pastor Tyler Graham officiating. Interment White Oak Cemetery. Arrangements by the M.
