Mack Christner Obituary

Mack Eugene Christner, 82, Meyersdale went to be with his Lord on March 2, 2018.  He was born May 8, 1935 in Garrett, PA to the late Jacob and Edna (Haer) Christner. Proceeded in death by first wife, Audrey “Sis” Lohr and second wife, Nellie Bernice Meyers Suder. Brothers; Harold, Thomas, and Sprowls. Sisters; Hazel Hoover and Barbara Meyers. Special nephew, Donald Elfvin.  Survived by sisters; Miriam Stephens, Arlene Houston, Nancy Stoner, and Mary Hanks. Survived by children; Jim (Deb) Sanner, Valarie “Chip” (Ben) Brant, Durb (Wendy) Christner, and Tim (Steph) Christner. Grandchildren; Kristi (Jason) Blubaugh, Kelli (Travis) Smith, Cheryl (Keith) Opel, Mandy (Wes) Teets, Jeremy Christner, Jarryd (Ashley) Christner, Logan Christner. Great Grandchildren; Matthew and Kelana Blubaugh, Bo and Audra Smith, Alivia, Grayson, Owen Christner, Tyler and Audrey Opel, and Dylan Teets. Special nephew and niece; Ron (Sarah) Meyers and Debbie Meyers. Loving fur-babies Rocky, Sunshine and Princess.  Veteran of the United States Air Force and retired from Croners Coal.  He was a member of the Meyersdale Grace Brethren Church, a faithful “knotter” with the Meyersdale Church of the Brethren, and soup volunteer with Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church in Garrett.  He was also a dedicated, 45 year member of the Garrett VFD and a lifetime member of the Rockwood American Legion.  Mack was a special friend to many, and was known for his big smile, generous, sweet and humble nature; and was his happiest when he was helping his friends and family.  Being an avid hunter, he especially enjoyed spending time outdoors and on his beloved mountain property. Family and friends  will be received on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 from  2-4:00 p.m. and 6-8:00 p.m. at the M. Ray Leckemby Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Haulk officiating. Interment at Highland Cemetery, Garrett.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given in his name to the Women’s Fellowship of the Meyersdale Church of the Brethren, 9 Beachley Street, Meyersdale PA  15552 and directed to: KNOTTERS.
