It is with great sorrow that we report on the sudden death of Charles “Charlie” Henry Ackerman on May 31, 2021, at his home in Meyersdale, at the age of 80. Charles was born to the late Simon P. Ackerman, Sr. and Ora Mae (Schramm) Ackerman. Born September 30, 1940 in Garrett, Pa. Charlie was a hard-working man and was employed at Penn Tables, Clapper's, and the B & O Railroad, among other occupations. Charlie had a good sense of humor and was known for his jokes. He loved God and his family. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He was a member of the Main Street Brethren Church. Charles is preceded in death by his parents. Brother and sisters, Simon P. Ackerman, Jr., Ila Mae Keith, and Linda Lorraine Bowman. Brother-in-laws: Earl, Don, and Fred Zerfoss. Sister-in-laws, Lois Keller and Ruth Durst. Charlie is survived by his wife, Judy. Daughter, Teresa (Matt) Kalmey of Waynesboro. Granddaughters: Natasha Yoder of Lancaster, Katrina (Corbin) Sipe of Chambersburg, Justina (William Fox) Pitt of Virginia, and Kiara Kalmey of Waynesboro. Great Grandchildren, Lillian, Aaron, Elijah, and Levi Pitt . Brothers: Ron (Patty) Ackerman and Don (Lois) Ackerman. Sisters: Mildred Deem, Ellen Nightingale, and Peggy Reynolds.  A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the M. Ray Leckemby Funeral Home.
